We're seeking ART + SCIENCE project pitches for funding up to $3000

  • We encourage pitches from any and all types of artistic media.

  • Proposed projects can request a maximum of $2000. Funds will be assigned case by case depending on the proposed budget. Most funds are disbursed in two installments.

  • No restrictions on how to spend the money, as long as it's project related.

  • Preferences given to USC affiliated projects and faster timelines (4-7 months) though not required.

  • Slideshow for pitch presentation

  • Detailed budget outlining all expenditures

  • Project timeline (the more detailed, the better)

  • Written paragraph summarizing the project

  • Portfolio of previous work

Recommendations

  • Your project will be prioritized if it:

    • Pertains to understanding the human body, health, and/or disease

    • Involves multiple scientists and artists​

    • Showcases a clear vision of how artists and scientists will be connected

    • Has a USC faculty member as an artistic and/or science advisor

    • Contains leaders that have demonstrated excellence in their proposed project area

Next Steps If Selected

​

  • You will be assigned a BASA team member as your project liaison who will help you with the process of funding, finding advisors, and administrative aspects.

    • At least one mandatory brainstorming session will be hosted with people outside of the project leader's discipline to gain a fresh, outside perspective

  • The project leader will be responsible to deliver a progress report midway through the agreed project timeline.

    • Reports must consist of a short presentation to BASA that highlights the current state of the project and the future outlook.
