FAQ

?

1. What is considered a pitch?

We encourage pitches from ALL and ANY expressions of artistic media that can accurately and creatively portray a scientific concept. Pitches of projects with a clear and meaningful art-science connectivity will be favored for funding.

2. Who can give a pitch?

Pitches can be given by anyone, whether USC affiliated or not. However, projects from the USC community may be favored.

How much finding will be given for a chosen pitch project, and how can they be used?

3.

Pitch leaders can request up to $2,000 to carry out and complete their project, though funding may vary depending on the specific project. Funding will most likely be disbursed in installments with 50% given in the beginning and 50% around the midpoint. Funds can be used however the project leader deems fit for the completion of the given project (including hiring other media specialists, materials, etc).

4. When must chosen projects be completed?

Ideally, pitches should have a conceivable timeline of completion of around 4-7 months after being chosen. Faster and more detailed timelines for projects will be favored during the pitch contest.

5. What projects will be preferred during pitch day?

Certain projects with clear artistic and scientific collaboration will be prioritized for funding. This includes projects that are able to involve collaboration from scientists and artists (specific names are a bonus!) Projects that also involve leaders that have displayed excellence in their respective artistic or scientific fields will also be preferred.
